Contract Reviews & Negotiations

Know exactly what you are signing: obligations, scope and risk set out in plain terms, with advice on what to accept, negotiate or refuse.

What this covers

  • Full review and plain English summary of the contract
  • A register of the onerous terms and what they mean in practice
  • Advice on which terms to accept, negotiate or reject
  • Support through the negotiation itself
  • Review of amendments, schedules and collateral warranties
  • Feasibility and deliverability assessment before you commit

A contract review is a small cost against the thing it protects you from.

What you get

We read the contract properly, including the amendments and the schedules where the risk usually hides, and give you a summary you can actually use: what you are obliged to do, what you are being asked to carry, and where the wording is unclear enough to be dangerous.

Then we help you negotiate

We set out which terms to accept, which to push back on and which to refuse outright, and we support you through the conversation with the other side. Being able to explain precisely why a clause is unreasonable tends to be more persuasive than simply objecting to it.

Before you commit

We also assess whether the job is deliverable on the terms offered, given your resources and programme. Some contracts are best walked away from, and it is far cheaper to learn that before signature than after.

Questions

Common questions

How quickly can you turn a review around?

Most reviews are back within a few working days. If you are up against a deadline to sign, tell us and we will work to it.

Do you only review construction contracts?

Our work is focused on construction and civil engineering contracts and subcontracts, including JCT, NEC and bespoke amended forms.
